Last night I went to bed and was very excited about a good long night's sleep after a weekend of staying up late and getting up early. And then something not unusual happened: I woke up and had to use the bathroom. From there, this usual event turned into what I have named "The Accident". Here's the account moment by moment:
I rolled out of bed. I thought to myself "I think my foot is asleep". I put both feet on the floor and stood up. It was then that I realized that I have ZERO...NONE...ZILCH control of my left leg from the hip down. Not only was my foot asleep, but my entire leg, from the hip down, was DEAD weight. Still not really able to comprehend what was going on because of my sleepy stuper, I took a step with my left foot and immediatly realized I was soon to be on my butt in the floor. Naturally, I let out a nice wimpy "Ahhh!", which was followed by Marty jumping out of the bed, turning on the light and adding to the screaming. It seemed like forever before we both actually realized what the heck was happening. So there I was sprawled out on the floor screaming "Ooowww!" "Ooowww!" and as Marty rushes to my side he's asking "What is going on?" and I'm screaming "My leg's asleep and I fell and my ankle hurts REEEEEEAAAAALLLLLY bad!" And then it all came together...my ankle and foot are throbbing...my adrenaline is rushing so hard and the pain is so intense that I feel like I'm going to vomit...now, I REEEEEAAAALLLLY have to pee...I started to cry in the weirdest way I've ever cried...and then finally I'm able to hoist myself up (with Marty's help) and do what I set out to do...use the bathroom. After what seemed like an eternity (and was really only about 20 minutes) I'm able to get back in bed and my good night of sleep turned into a wake up every 30 minutes because my ankle has to be cautiously moved night's sleep. So this morning, I wasn't really excited to wake up, but did so laughing at the craziness of the night's events.
Then as if this craziness wasn't enough...I was taking towels from the washer and putting them in the dryer. I positioned myself just so in front of the washer as to support myself, but not hurt my ankle and as I pulled 1 towel, 5 came out, I fell backwards and now have a really pretty bruise on my back to match the slight swelling in my ankle. And you should know that all of this happened before 9 am!!! Hoping that tonight is a little less eventful...
