The Week In Review...

I've been a little absent for a few days, but it's for good reason!! This past week was filled with lots of things that have kept us busy busy busy!!

For starters, last Saturday we spent a GORGEOUS Saturday at the Mars Hill homecoming festivities. It was so nice to meet up with old friends and make new ones! The weather was more than perfect for a day outdoors and I have a really cool farmer's tan on my left arm to prove it!

Then on Sunday, we picked up one of our cutie-pie god-daughters, Eden, so that she could have a week-long visit here with the Gilberts. She's 2 1/2 and, as is the case with most 2 year olds, a total handful! It's always such a shock to our systems to go from zero kids to keeping kids for days on end, but we love getting to spend time with them. And, I think they really enjoy getting a change of scenery and some time with us too...at least that's what I'll keep telling myself :) Because Eden's attention span is that of a 2 year old, we did lots of things every day...we took walks, colored, played babies, sang (she always wanted to sing the Ariel song!), watched The Little Mermaid or Mary Poppins, read and of course, had naptime. Here are some snapshots of our little cutie:

She was very intently looking for her "pider" (spider) who she made friends with her first day here.

Stopping for a quick pose in the yard on our way to the swings.

Enjoying a nice walk before lunch.

Eden and Marty watching Mary Poppins. (Eden LOVES to sing "Let's Go Fly a Kite"!)

We got a true taste of dealing with everyday life on top of having a kid around. Our time with her was nothing short of packed full of places to go and things to do and people to see! We had friends over for dinner on Monday night. Tuesday night, my brother graduated from Basic Law Enforcement Training in Waynesville (Way to go, brother!! He starts his new job with the Canton PD on Thursday. I'm so proud of him!). My mom came over to help out with Eden while I was at the dentist and at work. Then on Thursday, Eden's mom (Eli), almost 5 year old sister (Bella) and 9 month old brother (Caleb) came to pick her up and stay for a few days to visit. You can imagine the chaos craziness of all the people in our little house!! It was so nice to see them all...and while it's nice to have a silent house again, I feel like I'm having a little withdrawal!

While Marty's been away at a conference, I've spent the day diving head first into our kitchen re-do. No major projects going on here...just a lot of painting and reorganizing and FINALLY getting things to look how I want them to look. I've got pretty new curtains and some fun little crafty projects to help spruce things up. We've chosen "Sea Grass" as our paint color and I LOVE IT!!! It's so light and refreshing and I can't wait to see it on the walls! As with most projects like this, we'll spend more time preparing the room than we'll spend painting it. That's ok though, because everything is in need of a good cleaning. I spent the afternoon with lots of Clorox and Lysol and can't wait to have it all looking brand new!! We hope to have the painting finished on Monday or Tuesday and then I'll spend the rest of the week getting everything put back together. Be on the lookout for some before and after pictures soon!

And now it's getting late and for the first time in a week, I have no one to wake me up in the morning!! So, I'm going to go take advantage of some serious sleepin' Good night!!

Aww, Eden is such a cutie! Grown up so much since the last pics we saw of her. Auntie Sazi to the rescue again! Got your e-mail... hope that works out. One way or another we WILL get some time together.

Can't wait to see the "sea grass" color and the finished product. I've been sprucing up the guest room/office--will have to send along some pics too! Don't you wish we were near each other and could help out? Ah well, at least we have blogland! Love you!
