AI After Thoughts

After watching Wednesday night's episode of the AI auditions in Atlanta, I have a few more thoughts on the process.

*First of all, it was really neat to see people on the show that were near us in line. The girl who auditioned in my group of 4 (actually, the girl who didn't know what song she was singing until the moment of her audition) was shown dancing with a friend on the episode. Good ol' C Marie from "411-the show" was right in front of us in line on audition day.

*If you were looking for us on tv...you should stop for fear of straining your eyes beyond use. Even knowing exactly where we were in the crowd, I've paused and slowed and play those shots on Tivo repeatedly to no avail. It's almost as if sections 1-4 didn't really exist when it came to filming.

*After seeing, in person, how things happened and then seeing, on tv how things were portrayed, it's not wonder we all like the show. If they showed America exactly the way it all goes down, no one would ever audition and no one would watch the show.

*They made us sing "Oops, I Did It Again" what seemed like a million times and then didn't use any of the footage. Apparently they thought it would be a better use of the viewers' time to show General Larry's audition. If I'm honest here, I'd say it was probably a better use of all our time. :) Did you miss the audition? Well, if you missed it, or just need to get the song stuck in your head for the rest of the day, here it is:

And that my friends, concludes my journey into the world of American Idol. I've been asked if I would audition again if the age limiit was raised. Honestly, I don't know if I would or not. It was an amazing experience and one that I'll remember for a really long time! Thanks for all your support and encouragement along the way!! And remember...it's not a talent competition...it's a REALITY SHOW!!

Gilbert...out.
